He'd heard rumbling about monstrous creatures using it as a shelter, but the monsters he encountered there weren't what he heard described at the local inns. These made those seem angelic in nature. Sure, a beast with claws half the length of a mans arm and fangs sharper than the keenest blade were intimidating.
